Time Pressure

I know I still have 6.5 months to go before the wedding date... but oh my, I feel the pressure of having as many things as possible ticked off in this month while I am on my uni holiday!

New term uni starts 7th March. And it's going to be my last subject (YEAH!!!), it is also the most important subject of the course that must be passed to graduate! This time there will also be a group assignment. It'll be fun trying to organise a meeting time among 4 busy people who work full time and study part time!

Anyway, like the last semester, while I'm on my uni term, it will be so difficult to find time for wedding planning. The next term finishes on mid-June. So I am trying to have as much thing organised as possible this month, or else, probably most things would have to wait until June :(

Let's see, what would I prefer to have ticked off my list this month?
  1. Wedding gown (ARGH! This is maybe the most important one as some people even advices to get it all done from 6 months before. But this all depends on the place you get it from. Some are simple, some are more customised and complex)
  2. Invitation design (not really rushing in terms of when these will be sent out, but I thought the invitation design can also help set the theme for the whole wedding)
  3. Start working on decoration / styling of the event
  4. Start looking for bridesmaid dresses after I got my wedding dress. At least maybe to kinda find out the style and color :)
  5. Finalising the wedding bands
  6. Book a celebrant perhaps? Trivial thing for me, but I think they do get booked out pretty quickly? Especially since I've only received 1 reference for a celebrant so far =S
  7. Probably start looking for hotels / serviced apartments. I assume the earlier we enquired, the better group rate we can get ;)
  8. Get the clothes ready for our engagement shoots! (Can't wait for it! :D)
  9. Book time for "Save the Date" video with our videographer!
Let's check back by the end of this month, which items will be ticked off :)

White by Vera Wang

Love love Vera Wang! If I have an unlimited budget, I would probably already got her wedding dresses. But with $8,000 being the cheapest price, it made me think twice,... or three times... hmm okay maybe ten times...

So I was very delightfully shocked when I heard that she released an affordable collection!!! It is called "White by Vera Wang". They are exclusively only made for Davids Bridal (makes me wonder how Davids Bridal got this collaboration).

The price ranges from $800-$1,400 USD!!! I can't believe how reasonable that is!

The bad news? Davids Bridal doesn't ship to Australia! Argh!

I am seriously contemplating to fly to US just to try out these dresses and brought them back. Hell, it may even be cheaper than buying some of the wedding dresses here in Australia!

From the collections, so far I'm loving this one:

It's the most expensive gown, just at $1,400 USD. Heaven...

This is inspired by the gown that Vera Wang made for Chelsea Clinton for her wedding in July 2010 which rumoured to have cost $15,000!

See all the other White by Vera Wang collections here and here . (Note: This is not all of the collection yet, but just a preview / sneak peek, there will be more, including bridesmaid dresses!!)

Pom Poms

Been thinking of ways to incorporate yellow & white Pom Poms in the wedding.... :)

The best place for it right now that I can think of is the 2nd level hallway! It is only a short hallways, so we don't need that many pom poms, and it may even be visible from outside? It should be good to set the colour theme too when the guests start moving upstairs to the reception room!

Hmmm, will definitely explore this further... :)

Silhouette Design

Since I first saw these wedding photos, I can't stop thinking about making our own silhouette design. This couple used one of their pre-wedding photo, send it to someone at Etsy to be made to a silhouette, and used that as the basis of many of their stationary.

It is such a beautiful silhouette of them dancing under the tree next to their bicycle. In Yellow and White too!

We've been thinking, for us, a good silhouette will really be of Lucas & I slurping noodle from a super big bowl. Almost like Lady & The Tramp sharing a plate of spaghetti!

We've decided not to go with it though for our wedding invite, afraid that it will look too casual. Guess slurping noodles isn't really a usual design theme to use for weddings :) Maybe next time, we'll think of other ways to use it!

Craspedia

Craspedia will definitely be one of my wedding flowers :) I fell in love with it since the first time I stumbled across photos of real wedding using these. Also called 'billy button', these flowers are so cheerfully bright, gives a good character and shape to the arrangement, and furthermore, looks strong!

Available from May to October, hopefully we'll be able to get it as our wedding is on 1st October :)
This will be perfect for a buttoniere too!
